David J. Uhlinger

David J Uhlinger, of Royersford, passed away in his home Saturday, October 15th.  He was born in Ithica, New York, March 25, 1958 to Roger and Winifred (Drake) Uhlinger.  David grew up in Ithica, Lincoln Nebraska and Cheyenne, Wyoming.  He then moved to Englewood, Colorado where he attended middle school and high school.  After graduating there, he completed his Bachelor’s degree at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln.  Following that, David obtained his Master’s degree from Florida State and his Phd from the University of Texas at Austin.  Derek joined the family in June 1998 much to the joy of his Mom & Dad. 

For the past 20 years, David has worked with Johnson and Johnson.  He earned the title of Senior Scientist, working in Biologics Clinical Pharmacology.   He was energized by the opportunity to work on potential discoveries that might help people be able to lead healthier lives.

When David was younger, he loved to fish and participated in Boy Scouts.  He continued to enjoy his passion for the outdoors as an adult by skiing, golfing and hiking.  He also loved international travel, fine food and spending time with his family and friends, especially his son, Derek.  David was always goal-oriented and many goals involved self-improvement.  He valued being a compassionate person and being a positive contributor to society. 

David is survived by his former wife, Kathy, and their son, Derek.  He is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, Keith and Kathi Uhlinger of Moses Lake, WA and Drake and Debbie Uhlinger of Eagle River, Alaska along with nieces and nephews. 

There will be a time of gathering to remember David and celebrate his life on Sunday, October 23rd, from Noon – 1:00 followed by a short service including memories offered by family and friends.  These will be held at Volpe funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials will be given to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
