Gerald T. "Gerry" McMahon

Gerald (Gerry) T. McMahon passed away on Friday, May 13th, 2016 at the age of 66 after battlingmultiple illnesses the past few years.   Gerry was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late James and Muriel (McAvoy) McMahon.  He was predeceased by a sister Deborah and brother Donald, who passed in September 2015.   Gerry is survived by a brother Dennis and sisters, Pat Mastrangelo, her husband Ralph Mastrangelo, Joan McMahon, Coleen McMahon, and her husband Don Van Wormer, and Donald’s wife Robin McMahon.  Gerry was the beloved Uncle to Traci Wheatley, her husband Bob Wheatley, Jr., Megan Mastrangelo, Allison Carpenter, and her husband Tony Carpenter.  He was the Great Uncle to nephew Robert Wheatley III and nieces, Kylee Wheatley and Mayzie Carpenter.   

Gerry retired from the Times Herald Newspaper after 45 years.   After retirement he enjoyed working at Petals Florist delivering flowers.  Gerry enjoyed traveling the world with his friends, Bob and Rudy and loved to spend time with friends in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.  Gerry was an avid reader and loved to crochet.  There are many babies out there that have one of Gerry’s crocheted baby blankets.  Gerry had an uncanny memory for people, remembering the details of their life.  Gerry was always thinking of his family and friends and was always there with an ear to listen or a hand to help. A Celebration of Gerry’s life will be held at Volpe Funeral Home for friends and family at 707 West Germantown Pike Norristown Pa 19403 on Friday, June 3rd at 12pm. Friends may call from 12:00pm-1:00pm. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in memory of Gerry to a charity close to your heart, or please call a family member or friend to let them know you are thinking of them.  Life is too short, have no regrets!
