Helen Irene (Williams) Smith

Helen Irene Smith (ne Williams) of Danville, PA passed away on July 15, 2017. She was 79.

Helen was born on April 28, 1938 in Upper Merion, PA to her parents, James Conrad “Con” and Anna D. Williams (ne Zimnock). She graduated from Upper Merion High School. She married her childhood friend, high school sweetheart, love of her life and soul mate Russell Walter Smith of Philadelphia on December 22, 1955. They moved to the Norristown area where they raised their three children. She worked for Bell Telephone, ICD and in her later years she managed Auntie Anne’s.

Helen is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Summer Smith of Elk Grove, IL; her son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Bonita Smith of Danville, PA; her daughter and son-in-law, Robin and John Trowbridge of Bechtelsville, PA; six grandchildren and two great-granddaughters; her sisters, Floss Kriebel, Stella Bender and Peggy Bednar and her brother, Charles Williams. She was preceded in death by her husband Russell Smith and her brothers James Williams and Richard Williams.

Helen was a loving, kind and independent woman who loved her family dearly. She was creative and enjoyed painting, craft making, writing poems and songs for each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her favorite places were Wildwood, NJ, where she and her husband played as children and later vacationed with their children and grandchildren and her mountain home in Benton, PA where she vacationed with her late husband. She loved to laugh, dance and sing. She made all those around her feel loved and special.

In keeping with Helen’s wishes, there will be no funeral services. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
