Pauline Scirica

Pauline “Paula" Scirica died peacefully on Wednesday, June 15, 2016, surrounded by her family in Wake Forest, North Carolina. She was 81.  Paula was a devoted wife of 43 years, a dedicated mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.  She was known to many as a great cook and her love for sewing. Paula immigrated to the United States in 1952 from England to Richwood, West Virginia.  She eventually settled in Norristown, Pennsylvania several years later. It was here that met and married, Frank "Chick" Scirica.  Paula and Frank resided in Plymouth Meeting where they raised their family on Sandy Hill Road through 1983.  Paula enjoyed skiing with her family on Elk Mountain, spending time with family and friends and leading Girl Scouts before moving to Greenville, South Carolina.  After leaving South Carolina in 1990, Paula and Frank retired to Elk Mountain where they enjoyed the beauty and tranquility of their mountain home.  After a few tough winters, they left Pennsylvania for Florida before eventually moving to Raleigh, North Carolina in 2002. Frank Scirica passed away in 2005 and Paula remained in North Carolina with several of her children and grandchildren nearby.  She was born Pauline White in August 1934 in Ramsgate England and was the daughter of the late Henry and Lillian (Hendle) White.  She is survived by two sons, Frank Scirica of Raleigh, NC; Garry White and wife Joy of Canterbury, England.  Three daughters, Antonia Scirica Rowe and husband Scott Rowe of Cary, NC; Lia Frid and husband Michael Frid of Wake Forest, NC; and Cina Scirica of Clarks Summit PA.; 17 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.  She is predeceased in death by her husband Frank Scirica; three brothers, Alfred White, Alan White, and Derek White; and two sisters, Ruby Chilton and VickieTaylor.  Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial on Friday July 22, 2016 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Saviour Church, 407 E. Main St., Norristown. Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery immediately following mass.  Memorial contributions can be made in Paula’s name to Hospice of Wake County (aka Transitions LifeCare) 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh NC 27607
