I will miss you Bert! I will remember working with you every day during out time at the VCC. You were always there on time, doing your best to please the clients. You were interested in so many different things in life. Always amazed me with your knowledge and artistic abilities. Rest in peace and remember that you were loved and respected by many. Nancy

We are all deeply saddened. I had the pleasure of working with Bert at the VCC. Bert was the ultimate team player no task to big no task too small. He was in Intragal part of our Villanova family. We were fortunate to see him One last time the day after Mother's Day when a group of us got together. I will miss The sense of family he created amongst our team as well as his quick wit and dry sense of humor. We shared a lot of ups and downs at Villanova but I will always remember the day Bert showed me his Old school video from the Fillmore when he was a called upon as an emergency background singer for Joe Cocker. A true classic. Thanks for the memories Bert! Love JP

I worked with Bert at the VCC from August of 2011 up until the closing last November (I was a part-time bartender). When we had time, we would talk about a wide range of topics; for one, I used to ask him about his life in California, and he had some good stories to tell. Very often as we would pass one another in the bustle of preparing for an event, we would try to outdo each other with a quick quip or pun. I am saddened he is gone - my deepest codolences.

Way back in time, at the dawn of the seventies, Bert heard that I had secured a first date with a lovely young lass who shall remain nameless. He insisted on cooking us a romantic dinner, and arrived with everything he needed. Before I knew it, he had cooked Chinese Tomato Beef, with rice, plated it, and had discreetly left. Needless to say, the date was a success. That's the kind of guy Bert was. I am so happy he graced my life, as well as that of so many others -- especially the love of his life, Carole. Rest easy, my friend.

Thank you, Jim (well, you're still James to me!) for making me smile and for making me cry. I've thought of emailing you and calling you many times, and eventually I will. It's just so very painful. The sadness takes much of my energy. Plus, coping with all the details that must be handled. The cats keep me going, and it's been good to return to my piano studio, a lighter schedule in the summer. Give my love to Jen and Bridget. Be well, dear friends. Love, Carole

Carole , you know how much we loved Bert! He was incredibly special in so many aspects in our lives. I remember his dry wit that always elicited smiles of delight, his preparing special meals for family, his sincere and devoted love of you. I am especially grateful he was so often engaged in our daughters' lives, it enriched them beyond measure. His memory is engrained in our hearts! We are here for you now and always. Love you!
