John A. "Jack" Gump Jr.

John A. “Jack” Gump Jr., 80 of Plymouth Meeting, PA passed away peacefully on January 18, 2018 at home with his family by his side. He was born February 22, 1937 in Knoxville, TN, son of the late John A. Gump Sr. and Mirium Jacob Gump. He grew up in St. Mary’s, PA and moved to the Plymouth Meeting area where he raised his family with his high school sweetheart Mary “Penny” Rogan.

They had a son Mark and two daughters Ann and Kathy. Jack attended St. Mary’s Catholic High School before joining the United States Marine Corps.

He became a sales engineer for several thermocoupling companies during his career. He also worked at Jet Plastica in Hatfield. Jack was active in the Plymouth community as a basketball and softball coach. He also served on committees at St. Paul’s Church in Norristown during the 1970s. He enjoyed watching the Phillies and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife Penny Rogan Gump, daughters Ann (Mike) White and Kathy (Chas) Fortescue, and five Grandchildren (Maggie, Pattie, Shannon, Lauren, and Ian).

A funeral mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Church, 714 DeKalb Street, Norristown, PA 19401 on Wednesday January 24th at 10:00 AM. Luncheon to follow. A Catholic burial will be held privately in St. Mary’s, PA at a later date. "In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimers Association at act.alz.org in Jack's name. Thank You"
