Salvador M. Pires passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2018. He was 89. Mr. Pires of Jeffersonville was a member of the St. Titus Roman Catholic church.
He was a active member of the Men of Malvern retreat house for over 45 Years.
Sal was a 4th degree member of the Bridgeport Council Knights of Columbus Father Tomko assembly,
a member of the Bridgeport Catholic War Veteran and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Korean Conflict.
Sal was a retired Crane Operator and was employed at the former Allen Wood Steel Co and. Precision Tube Co. He enjoyed tending to his small garden of flowers and feeding the birds, taking bus trips to Reading and the casinos.
Salvador was born in Swedeland, Pa. on February 7, 1929 and was the son of the late Antonio and Palmira (Souza) Pires.
Surviving are his Beloved Wife of 59 years, Bernice (Ondik) Pires,
his brother Edmund Pires and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Predeceased by his baby daughter Christina Marie, brother Albert and sister Madeline Gilette.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral mass on Friday, May 25 at 11 AM in St. Titus Church. Burial at St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
Friends may call Friday from 9:45-10:45 AM at the church.
Family request memorial contributions can be made to Saint Titus church.
