Santilla (Picard) Bono

Santilla (nee Picard) Bono passed away peacefully on March 28, 2018 at the Regina Nursing Center in Norristown. She was 101. Born in Norristown on May 22, 1916, she was the loving wife of the late Russell P. Bono and the daughter of the late Salvatore and Caroline (Giannone) Picard. Santa was a lifelong member of Holy Saviour Parish and a lifelong resident of Norristown. She was employed by Rambo and Regar Globe Knitting Mills in her younger years, by Sandy Hill Pharmacy for over 30 years and worked at the daycare center at Facenda Whitaker Bowling Lanes. Santa belonged to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Sodality and the Holy Saviour Senior Citizens Group. She enjoyed playing card games with her siblings, attending the Norristown Italian feasts and, being the family historian, she was relied upon by everyone for her knowledge of  family and her experiences of growing up in Norristown. Her greatest joy was sharing time with her family. She enjoyed life to the fullest and inspired many with her wisdom and her positive outlook on life. She is survived by her children; Vincent (Marie) Bono, Frances (Charles) McKeever, and Russell J. (Linda) Bono; 7 grandchildren, Sandra, Maria, Christine, Andrew, Desiree, Dana and Darla; 16 great grandchildren, 2 great great granddaughters, a sister, Ada Phillips and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased  by her brothers; Charles, Ralph, Anthony and Alfonso Picard,  and her sisters;  Anna Falcone, Palma Bambi, Catherine Genuardi and Carmella Galanti. We would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Regina Nursing Center for their loving care during her 5 year stay.

Friends and relatives may call for her viewing on Monday, April 2 from 10:00 to 11:45 am at Holy Saviour Church, 407 E. Main St. Norristown, PA, 19401,  followed 12 noon Mass. Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Holy Saviour Church to the above address.
