Barbara Ann Stong

Barbara Ann (Smith) Stong, of Limerick, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 3, 2026, at the age of 79.

Born in Norristown on April 22, 1947, Barbara was the beloved daughter of the late Edward and Gladys (Weirbach) Smith. She devoted many years of her career as a bookkeeper and screen printer for Jay’s Auto and was also employed by Schuylkill Valley Sporting Goods.

Barbara will be remembered for her love and devotion to her family. She was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose kindness and strength touched the lives of many.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Jacob Stong; her three sons, Jacob Stong II and his wife, Janine, James Stong, and Jeffery Stong; her cherished grandchildren, Shawna, Jimmy, Nicole, Jared, Rebecca, Jacob III, Brandon, Kayla, Evelyn, and Lydia; her great-grandchildren, Gavin, Hazell, Silas, Wrenley, and Kayden; and her sister, Connie Greco.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her son, Joseph Stong, and her brothers, Edward Smith and Robert Smith.

Barbara also enjoyed playing board games, cards, going to the casino and watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren in all their sports and activities. She was always welcoming to whomever came to her house and always loved a party or a picnic where laughter filled the air. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation on Friday, August 7, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Volpe Funeral Home, 707 W. Germantown Pike at Whitehall Road, East Norriton. A prayer service will follow at 10:30 a.m. Interment will take place at George Washington Memorial Park.
