Charles Brandt Obituary

Charles “Dale” Brandt passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 13, 2025. He was 82.

 

Born in Norristown on March 7, 1943, he was the son of the late Charles and Catherine (Burns) Brandt. Charles was a graduate of St. Patrick’s School and Bishop Kenrick High School.

 

Mr. Brandt proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and Cuban Missile Conflict. Following his service, he worked as a dedicated tractor-trailer driver for Volpe Express until his retirement.

 

Charles, known to many as Dale, enjoyed tending to his yard and garden, as well as building and collecting trains. He was also a gifted athlete, participating in many sports and earning numerous awards and trophies over the years.

 

He was the beloved husband of Bertha (Berkey) Brandt. Surviving are his daughters, Natalie (Joseph) Coughlin and Carmen Brandt; stepsons, Gregory and Christopher Nolte; brother, Edward Brandt Sr.; former spouse, Joanne Amelang; grandchildren, Aidan, Owen, and Elle Coughlin; step-grandchildren, Christopher Jr., Anthony, Grace, and Joy; and seven step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Charlotte Tietjens.

 

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Charles’s life on Friday, August 22, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the Volpe Funeral Home, 707 W. Germantown Pike at Whitehall Rd., East Norriton, followed by a prayer service at 12 noon. Burial will be private.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Operation Homefront.

 

Funeral arrangements are in the care of the Volpe Funeral Home.
