Charles J Santangelo

Charles J. (Chuck) Santangelo overcame his biggest fear on April 3, 2026 when he passed peacefully at Einstein Montgomery Hospital in Norristown, PA. Born in 1937, Chuck was the only child of Charles and Margaret Santangelo. His early years were spent in a 3-story row house in east Norristown with his grandparents upstairs and more family below. Chuck took two busses and a train to get to West Catholic High School in Philadelphia, PA from which he graduated in 1955. After being honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force for having a crooked finger, Chuck enrolled at Villanova University and graduated in 1960 with a B.A. in Business. Taught that one got a job, married, bought a house, and had children, Chuck did just that. In the 1960’s he met his wife, Sue, who was out of his league; bought a house in Berwyn, PA, then another in Bonita Springs, FL; and had a daughter, Chrissy. Chuck worked his way from Junior Office Manager at Waters, Fleer, Cooper & Gallagher in Norristown, PA to Office Administrator at Cohen, Shapiro, Polisher, Shiekman and Cohen in Philadelphia, PA. He eventually became a Director and Senior Partner at Hildebrandt International. An esteemed consultant to the legal profession and much in demand, Chuck retired in 2003. He was a proud member of the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA), serving as Vice President. Chuck was a published author, an excellent public speaker, million-mile flyer, and always organized. Chuck loved travel and was forever excited about trips with family and friends; Italy, Egypt, France, Tanzania, Bermuda, Turkey, and the Jersey Shore were his favorites. He was an amateur historian interested in WWII history, going so far as to visit the Normandy beaches in 2004. Chuck adored music, especially Big Band, with an extensive collection of songs and trivia from that genre. He also had a special touch with orchids where blooms were a constant on the lanai. With an unforgettably loud laugh, Chuck also loved good films and quoted them often; Young Frankenstein lost its biggest fan. He cherished his friends – and all animals too. Chuck is survived by his faithful wife of sixty-three years, Susan, of Audubon, PA; his daughter, Christine and son-in-law John Moss, both of New Orleans, LA.  Services will be private.
