Conor Bastable Obituary

Conor Charles Alexander Bastable (aged 60 y/o), resided in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, USA. Deceased as of June 16th, 2025 at his apartment in Phoenixville. Conor was born at the Rotunda Hospital in Dublin, Ireland on January 18th, 1965. Raised by Bartholomew Bastable & Moira Donnelly Bastable and brother to Siona (12), Shane (10) and Catherine (8). He attended a small private school in Dublin called St.

Conleth’s. During his time there he became quite proficient at fencing. He was educated by St. Andrew’s School in Boca Raton & later Syracuse University to take up a 4-year degree course in Information Technology at Syracuse University New York.

At the age of 12, Moira and Bart (a well-known public figure in Ireland and once described as “The Voice of Ireland”) decided to leave the family home and semi-retire to Boca Raton in Florida. The transition to life in another country was not an easy one for Conor, and he missed his friends a lot, at that time. However he adjusted to his new life as best he could.

During his time in Florida, he took up hobbies like fishing, sailing as well as building/flying Model Aeroplanes.

Conor attended St. Andrew’s School in Boca Raton, he loved the water, and this is where he took up and did well at competitions in the water sport of diving. Not long after completing his degree at Syracuse University, Conor worked in New York for a short time before moving to London, England - where he reconnected with his siblings Shane and Catherine. In fact, he moved in with Shane and would frequently see his sister Catherine who lived nearby.

Conor was quite a wizard in writing code / programs which would successfully forecast the trend of stocks and shares for a company in the London Financial Market. This was before he joined Johnson Matthey.

Over his 30+ years at Johnson Matthey, Conor progressed through the ranks, building solid relationships with his colleagues at ALL levels before leaving in October 2020 at the senior director level. During his time in London, Conor met and fell in love with Melinda. They married at his brother Shane’s beautiful home in Ireland. Many friends from far and wide came

to celebrate with Conor and Melinda. A great weekend of celebration was had by all. Conor took up sailing, buying a boat which he moored at Chichester Harbour. He loved spending time ‘tinkering’ on his boat and having time on the water, at weekends.

15 years after joining Johnson Matthey in the UK, Conor was offered a position in their Philadelphia HQ offices, and the family moved to Phoenixville. Whenever he returned to the UK, Conor would make sure to spend time with his

sister Catherine, who now lives just outside London. They shared many a night talking into the ‘wee small hours’ and occasionally greeting the early morning birdsong and sunrise … he is sorely missed. Conor was divorced from his wife, Melinda, and is survived by his two sons, Harry & Myles. Conor is also survived by his sisters, Catherine Hexter and Síona Vizzard. A note from Conor’s son, Harry Bastable - Conor was known to many as the life of the party, an entertainer, a good laugh, and even more-so a good time. He was always known for his Irish humor - no matter the story he’d tell or who was there to listen, there was never a shortness of laughter or smiles. Conor was a generous man who loved deeply and made those around him fall in love with his unique charm and wit. Conor

Bastable truly is and was one of a kind. Long live Conor Charles Alexander Bastable, he will be dearly missed and continue to be loved long after. I love you and miss you, Dad
