Corinne E. Filograna 22, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on May 20, 2023 at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Bryn Mawr on August 10, 2000, to Frank and Kathy (Mengeringhausen) Filograna.
Corinne resided in Collegeville with her parents. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Loyola University Maryland in 2022, was a member of Phi Beta Kappa Society, and played Division 1 Volleyball. Corinne loved the game of volleyball playing since 5th grade, and at Loyola she was awarded the Father Francis McManamin Unsung Hero Award for her teamwork and leadership on and off the court. While receiving cancer treatments Corinne was also working towards her Masters Degree in Public Health at Drexel University. She worked as a student clinical research assistant at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and published two journal articles with CHOP Policy Lab this year. She loved spending time with family and friends at the beach in OCNJ. She had a passion for travel and food and was lucky enough to spend a summer In Rome pursuing both of those passions.
If you were to ask Corinne, she would say that she is perfectly healthy, except for her cancer. Her positive attitude and hope for a cure drove her to continue to live her life with grace and humor. Even after her cancer quickly relapsed, she would say, ‘There’s always hope.” Just a few days before her death, she attended the Taylor Swift concert and had the time of her life with friends and family. Team Corinne helped raised funding for CHOP Oncology at the Parkway Run and Walk In September.
