Donald Dorman Obituary

Donald J. Dorman, age 92, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 13, 1932, in Reading, he was the son of the late Charles and Margaret (Shannon) Dorman.

 

Donald was married to the love of his life, Lillian Dorman, for nearly 70 years until her passing in December 2023.

 

A proud veteran, Donald honorably served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He later dedicated 30 years of service to Stroehmann Bread before retiring.

 

In his free time, he enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles, reading, and was a devoted football fan.

 

He is survived by his son, Donald Dorman Jr., and three daughters: Kathleen (Jack) Hannan, Eileen (the late John “Flea” Kilpatrick), and Lorraine (Richard) Lafiata. He was a beloved grandfather to Christopher, Phillip, Stephanie, Michael, Richard, and Brandon, and a cherished great-grandfather to Blake, Reese, Daniel, Declan, and Kennedy. He is also survived by his sisters, Lorraine Chesser, Nancy Clark, and Sheila Catagnus. He was predeceased by his sister, Dawn Barone.

 

Family and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service on March 27, 2025, from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, followed by prayer services at Volpe Funeral Home, 707 W. Germantown Pike at Whitehall Road. Burial will be private.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Donald’s memory.
