Douglas P. Chaloult, age 88, passed away on the 16th of October 2020. He was a resident of Shannondell of Valley Forge in Audubon.
He was born in Caribou Maine and graduated from Caribou High School in 1949. He graduated Colby College in Waterville Maine and received a BA in Business Administration in 1953. Following college he served in the United States Army in Korea, returning to the United States in June of 1955. Later that year he joined the Indemnity Insurance Company of North America, in the casualty underwriting training program and stayed with the company, which is now known as CIGNA for 37 years, leaving for a brief time to attend graduate school at Wharton. He was awarded the CPCA designation in 1960.
During his time with the company he served in a variety of underwriting and management positions, first on the domestic side and then for the last 20 years in international operations. He retired in 1992 as Senior Vice President of Casualty Underwriting. He was an avid tennis player during his working years and often took his tennis racquet with him on his extensive travels overseas. As a result he was able to play tennis in such locations as London, Brussels, Australia and many others. When he retired he turned his attention to golf and found he enjoyed that as much or even more than tennis. That together with bridge, reading consumed a large part of his spare time.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Jeanne, daughter Suzanne (Wayne) Hayes, son D. Peter (Dorothy) Chaloult, one granddaughter Suzie (Matthew) Schutte and one great granddaughter Mckenzie Schutte.
Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral mass on Monday October 19, 2020 at Visitation BVM Church (lower church) at 10 AM. His viewing will take place from 9:00 to 9:50 at the church. Burial will follow in George Washington Memorial Park.
