Edward Hennessey Obituary

Edward P. Hennessey passed away on January 19, 2026. He was 82 years old.

Born on November 7, 1943, Ed was the youngest child of the late Julia (Pevlege) and Charles Hennessey. He spent his childhood in Lafayette Hill, PA, as the sibling to the late Mary Ellen (Bazin), the late Julianna (Patzuk),

the late Charlie, Frank, and the late John. Growing up, they enjoyed the closeness of a large family and many summers down the shore fishing.

After graduating from Plymouth Whitemarsh High School, Ed joined the Navy, which had a profound effect on his entire life. He proudly served his country during the Cuban Missile Crisis and sailed most of the world on the USS Boxer and USS Aucilla, making lifelong friends along the way.

Ed married the late Linda (Zielinski) and welcomed his children Edward, April, and Andrea. The family lived in Norristown, where Ed coached little league baseball and, for over 15 years, defensive ends and linebackers for the Greater Norristown Midget Football League (Norristown Vikings).

He spent the bulk of his career working in the power plant at B.F. Goodrich and retired from Lockheed Martin.

Ed was remarried to the late Joan (O’Neill), and with her daughter, his family grew. Joan was the love of his life, and they spent 41 years enjoying each other’s company and traveling to favorite vacation spots in New England, Bermuda, and Stone Harbor with their dear friends, Carol and Joe.

In time, Ed became a doting Pop Pop to Shannon, Julianna, Kaitlyn, Zoey, Sophia, Roman, Vivian, and Adeline. Ed was an avid reader of westerns, loved the tv show MASH, naps, and serving up his Navy Bean Soup. He enjoyed family vacations at the campground, body surfing, fishing and summer corn on the cob. He was a drag-racing champion who loved cars, and his were always impeccable. He believed that education was the great-est gift a person could have and was proud that his children and grandchildren are well-educated and are educat-ing others! Ed spent countless hours volunteering to support the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base in Willow Grove, the Medal of Honor Grove, and election polling stations.

He survived by his son, Edward M. Hennessey, and wife Barbara; daughters Wendy Trump, and husband Joe; April Hennessey, and husband Trevor Angelucci; Andrea Hennessey, and husband Spencer Raynor-Smith; and eight grandchildren.

He will be missed deeply by those who knew him.
