Eugene (Ewhen) Paprockyj was born in Reinbek, Germany on December 26th, 1950 to Jaroslaw and Maria Paprockyj. He and his family soon immigrated to the US and he spent the rest of his childhood growing up in Philadelphia, PA, where his father founded the First Ukrainian Evangelical Baptist Church of Philadelphia. Eugene attended both Temple and Drexel for architectural engineering and later served in the United States Airforce from 1969-1975. Through his parents’ ministry, he was introduced to his future wife, Gilda, whom he married on October 10th, 1992. Eugene and Gilda went on to have 3 wonderful children: Megan, Lilly, and Daniel, with whom he shared an avid love for nature and fishing. Eugene fought tremendous odds against esophageal cancer by outliving the the 8-12 month prognosis by 4 additional years. Unfortunately, the cancer became more aggressive in the Spring of 2023 and left him with only a few months to live. He spent his remaining time strengthening his relationships with his wife, his children, and more importantly, with the Lord. Eugene passed away on Wednesday, June 21st, 2023, but he leaves behind the legacy of his faith, strong family bond, and corny dad jokes (which we will forever cherish).
We will be holding a memorial service this Saturday at 1PM at LCBC BranchCreek in his honor. Thank you for all of your prayers and support during this time.
