Francis "Pete" Wieber Obituary

Francis M. "Pete" Wieber passed away on April 22, 2023 at Einstein Medical Center Montgomery. He was 93. Mr. Wieber, a resident of East Norriton, was born in Wyndmoor, PA, on May 23, 1929, to the late Albert and Josephine (Rooney) Wieber, and lived for a time after his marriage on East Airy Street in Norristown.  He was predeceased by his elder brother Albert ("Art").

Pete was a graduate of LaSalle College (now University), in Philadelphia, and was employed by Allstate Insurance Company as an insurance underwriter during his career. He served as a lieutenant in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a long-standing parishioner of Holy Saviour Church, where he especially enjoyed braiding palms for Palm Sunday. Despite a full time job, he always took care of his children and participated in their activities -- shuttling kids by car (always a safe and careful driver) from sports, dance and other activities, coaching little league basketball and baseball teams, helping out with the Boy Scouts, and enjoying vacation and off-time with his family (at south New Jersey beaches, or at a pool). He played multiple sports at Springfield High School (including track, baseball, basketball and football), and was an avid sports fan of all Philadelphia sports teams. He loved telling stories about growing up in Wyndmoor and all the sites thereabouts at the time. He was an accomplished handyman, gardener, and mechanic -- tackling many large (and smaller fix-it) projects around the house, landscaping his property (and planting bushes, flowers, and trees), and (before the age of computerized cars) keeping his family-size station wagons in good repair. Whether they liked it or not, he provided haircuts to all the boys in the basement or (after he built it and in the summer) out on the back patio. He enjoyed dogs throughout his life, including most recently Miniature Schnauzers and Portuguese Water Dogs and, having barbered his sons for many years, was an excellent dog groomer.

Pete is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Josephine (Scotti), and children Peter (Nicole), Michael (Fran), Karyn, Christopher, Paul (Eileen), Matthew (Becky), and Martin. He is also survived by his grandchildren Cynthia, Brandon, Jessica, Katie, Dana, Mickey, Corey, Deirdre, Callie, Cayden, Chase, and 7 great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral mass on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at 10 AM at the Holy Saviour church, Norristown. Family and friends may call from 9 to 10 at the church.

Burial will take place at St. Patrick’s cemetery.
