Frank J. Arcara passed away Sunday July 28, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was 75.
He was born Franco Valentino in San Giovanni Lipioni, Italy on May 22, 1949. He arrived at Ellis Island in 1952 aboard the ship, Argentina, and was adopted by Dr. Frank & Helena “Nellie” (Coppola) Arcara.
He attended La Salle College High School and the University of Pittsburgh, studying mathematics.
In 1971, he married his high school sweetheart, Linda. After 36 years as a union electrician in Local 380, Frank retired to do, as he would say, “what he wants, when he wants”. This included numerous trips across the US and Europe. There was never a time where he wasn’t in the middle of a book, often 2 or more of them at a time. An avid sports fan, he followed the Philadelphia teams and especially Alabama football (Roll Tide!). He also enjoyed playing bocce, watching Jeopardy, vintage television shows, and photography. More than anything else, he enjoyed his 4 grandchildren – attending their activities, sporting events, and taking pride in their academic accomplishments.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Linda (Kinsey) Arcara, son, Frank and his wife, Elizabeth Arcara, daughter, Kristen, and her husband, Jason Giovinco, grandchildren Ava Grey Arcara, Brayden Giovinco, Asher Arcara, Parker - Joseph Giovinco, brother Nino Valentino and his wife Maria of Liege, Belgium, as well as many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Frank & Nellie Arcara and brother, Michael Mele.
Memorial services will be held Monday, August 5, 2024 at Volpe Funeral Home, 707 W. Germantown Pike, Norristown, PA 19403. Family will receive friends and relatives from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM followed by a reflection service.
In lieu flowers, his family requests contributions be made to the St. Jude Hospital for Children in his memory.
Funeral arrangements are in the care of the Volpe funeral home. volpefh.com.
