Howard J. Bowman, Jr. (Doc) 82, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on May 28, 2023. He was born in Norristown, Pennsylvania on November 4, 1940 to the late Howard J. Bowman, Sr. and Florence (Spare) Bowman.
Doc graduated from Norristown High School in 1958 and served 4 years in the United States Air Force. Upon completion of his years in the service, Doc worked as an electronics technician for various companies including Boeing and Kulicke & Soffa, retiring in 2020 from Megger. In addition, Doc built numerous decks for local residents as a side job. Doc was very artistic. He dabbled in oil painting and was a skilled furniture maker. He made multiple pieces still being used in his home and those of his children and grandchildren. He was a history buff and enjoyed watching the History Channel. Doc was a staple at the fields and could be found on a Saturday morning setting up his and his wife's chairs for a day watching game after game. In his later years, Doc enjoyed watching the birds and spending time at the local casinos with his wife. Doc was the best husband, father and grandfather one could ever ask for.
Doc is survived by his wife of 59 years, Gerarda (Brennan) Bowman and his children, Lorraine DiLauro, husband Tony, Audra Burgese, husband Ken, Maureen Garman (Mimi), husband Durrell, Howard J. Bowman, III (Doc), wife Michele, Bridget Lamphere, husband Scott, Rebecca Bearoff, husband John, Noelle Bowman, husband Adam Greeley and Thomas Bowman, partner Jackie DiPasquale. He is also survived by his sister Kathi (Bowman) Brady, husband Paul Zadroga.
Doc was Pop to 16 grandchildren; Amanda, Nicholas, Matthew, Olivia, Shaun, Sydney, Ryan, Grant, Sage, Mason, Miller, Justin, Kyle, Averi, Milo, Matilda and great Pop to Easton. He also has many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to join them at the Volpe Funeral Home located on west Germantown pike on June 9, 2023 from 12:00pm to 1:30pm with a service beginning at 1:30pm. In lieu of flowers please send donations to St. Jude.org.
