James D. Harper (Jim) of Jeffersonville, 79, passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2022. He was born in Philadelphia on October 10, 1942, the son of the late William and Lillian (Wakefield) Harper. After graduating from Mastbaum High School in 1960, he started his career in typography and worked for PHP Typography and Berm Studios. Jim served in Vietnam with the US Navy, was a member of the Brigantine, New Jersey Elks Club and the Lower Providence Rod and Gun Club.
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed skiing, boating, fishing, hiking, and hunting. He shared his passions with his friends, family, and his children's friends, instilling in them a love for the outdoors. He loved animals and with a pocketful of treats was known as the dog whisperer; his granddogs will surely miss him.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife Arlene (Notto), his daughter Christina (John) Weikel, son Michael (Laurelee), grandchildren Jenna, Jake, Bay, Luke and Violet, cousins Bill, Stan and Russ, who were like brothers to him, along with innumerable nieces and nephews. His quiet strength and kind spirit will be missed by so many.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial service on Wednesday, March 9. Visitation from 12:30 to 1:30 followed by a prayer service and military honors, Volpe Funeral Home 707 W. Germantown Pike at Whitehall Rd., East Norriton, PA.
