James ‘Jimmy’ Kelly passed away in his home surrounded by family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Debbie. He is also survived by brothers Joe, Jr., Pat, Ray, and Jack, and predeceased by sister Kate.
Jimmy adored Debbie with every piece of his ENORMOUS heart. He cherished his beloved pets, including, Kiera and Finn (dogs), Raleigh and Fagin (cats), Whitney and Sport (birds). A gifted animal advocate, Jimmy successfully trained a notoriously skittish Finn to love family and eventually, tolerate other people.
Jimmy loved his aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great-nephews. He was always willing to share a joke or lend a hand, which garnered him a wide network of devoted friends and neighbors. His booming laugh, approachable nature, and unending kindness ensured he made friends everywhere he went.
Famously loved by children, his playful spirit and impeccable Donald Duck impression earned him the well-deserved title of ‘Fun Uncle’.
The ultimate host, Jimmy always made everyone feel welcome in his home. Regardless of time or convenience, he was always glad to see you. Even though he was not feeling well, when visitors arrived he would ask Debbie to heat some coffee and make sure there was food to share. He was the ultimate party host, an excellent chef, and (in our opinion) the premier crepe specialist in the Philadelphia area.
Throughout his life, Jimmy enjoyed traveling with Debbie, including visiting their ancestral roots in Ireland, but nothing could rival his love of relaxing at the Shore or shopping in Lancaster County.
His hobbies included sewing & crafting, especially to make gifts for loved ones; tending to his lawn & garden, particularly when he could share home grown fruits & vegetables; and elaborate decorating for the holidays, especially seeing the reactions of the local kids.
He loved to joke, laugh, and never lost his sense of humor—his roaring laughter always filled the room. A proud Irishman who never forgot his Fairmount roots, you always knew where you stood with Jimmy. When he agreed with you, you knew it, and if he disagreed with your opinion, you really knew it.
Family and friends are invited to join in a Celebration of Jimmy's Life, Saturday, October 15, 2022 from 1:00 – 5:00 PM at Plymouth Fire Company, 1323 Colwell Lane, Conshohocken, PA 19428.
Anyone who ever met Jimmy knew he was an avid animal lover; in lieu of flowers the family request donations to the animal charity of your choice.
