James Krombach Obituary

James A. “Jim” Krombach, of Royersford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at the age of 75.

Jim was a retired teacher with the Norristown Area School District, where he dedicated many years to educating and mentoring his students. He was an early champion of inclusive, hands‑on, and imaginative teaching, impacting three generations of children at Marshall Street Elementary. After retiring, he served as a Student Teacher Supervisor at Penn State University, where he inspired young educators to maximize their potential.

Beyond his career in education, Jim was deeply passionate about World War II history and contributed to the success of WWII Weekend at the Mid‑Atlantic Air Museum for more than 30 years. He also proudly served on the Board of Trustees for the Naval Air Station Wildwood Aviation Museum in New Jersey.

Jim found great joy in working on projects with his daughters, restoring antique cars, and spending time with his granddaughters. Known for his kind spirit, generosity, and sense of humor, Jim will be missed by all that have been blessed to know him.

Born in Philadelphia on November 3, 1950, he was the son of the late Herbert and Dorothy (McCracken) Krombach.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy (Wells) Krombach; his daughters, Emily Knechel and her husband Joel, and Dorothy Jordan and her husband Ryan; and his cherished grandchildren, Harper and Zoe. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his sister, Naomi Updegrove.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Friday, May 15, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM, followed by funeral services at 10:30 AM at Volpe Funeral Home, 707 W. Germantown Pike at Whitehall Road in East Norriton.
