James McKale

James E. McKale passed away on Monday, January 4, 2021. He was 63 years old.

Mr. McKale, of Royersford, was a Certified Gemologist. He was employed as a manager for many years at Sabre’s Fine Jewelry in Collegeville, where he was known to many in the community.  

James had a long, successful career as a jeweler and professional diamond and fine gem appraiser, earning the nickname “Diamond Jim.” He began his career in New York City where heattended the Gemological Institute of America. Over his career, he served as manager of Milanj Jewelers in King of Prussia, and Belden and Zales Jewelers in various locations, earning national Manager of the Year status in 1996. He co-owned the Gioielleria Jewelry Store in Shillington, PA. He was a romantic at heart, who had a great love for all jewelry from diamonds to high-end watches and time pieces. His natural ability to select the perfect engagement ring or piece of jewelry was appreciated by many, especially his nephews. 

James, known to his siblings as Jimmy, was born in Reading, Pa. on March 3, 1957. He is the son of Jane (Zawada) and late Louis McKale. He is survived by his devoted wife of six years, Lisa (Lombardo) McKale. They enjoyed many wonderful times together, especially vacations and dinner and dancing. 

He is the proud and protective father of three children: two sons,Louis and Justin, and a daughter, Marissa Jane. Marissa was his “Peanut,” and he will always be her hero. James was also adored by his three grandchildren: Justis, Carter and Sonia. 

James is also survived by his loving siblings: two brothers,Louis and Anthony, and two sisters, Janet (Pietrobone) and Victoria (Clipp).

Jimmy’s family meant the world to him. He enjoyed spending time with them, especially Sunday dinners and casino trips. He will be remembered by many for being incredibly kind and fun-loving; he especially enjoyed getting out on the dance floor with his family at weddings and parties -- where he was known forhis killer disco dance moves.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing from 12:00 to 1:30 pm on Thursday, January 7 at the Volpe Funeral Home which is located at 707 W. Germantown Pike at Whitehall Road, East Norriton, followed by a prayer service at 1:30 pm.
