James F. Nelson, Jr., of East Norriton, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 26, 2026. He was 75 years old. Jim was a graduate of Bishop McDevitt High School, class of 1968. Following his graduation, Jim proudly served his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Forrestal. After his military service, Jim earned a bachelor’s degree from La Salle University. Upon graduating, Jim was employed in the service industry, followed by a career in education. Jim was a man of devout faith, and a lifelong lover of learning. He had a deep interest in American Civil War history, and greatly enjoyed visiting historic sites and battlefields. Jim was an avid reader, and an enthusiastic listener of jazz music. He grew to love strength training as part of his high school football career, and he maintained a strong commitment to fitness throughout his life.
Jim was also a passionate Philadelphia sports fan who followed his teams with great enthusiasm. Born on April 7, 1950, in Mt. Airy, Pa., Jim spent his childhood in Maple Glen, Pa. He was the eldest son of the late James F. Nelson, Sr. and Regina (Fee) Nelson. For thirty-one years Jim was the beloved husband of Beverly (Barone) Nelson. In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by his stepdaughter, Stephanie Higham; his brothers, Brian Nelson and Gerard Nelson; his sister, Marianne Dean; and his nephews, Michael, Brian, and Matthew. He was predeceased by his brother, Thomas Nelson.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, January 31, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. for visitation at St. Titus Church, 3006 Keenwood Road, East Norriton. This will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place at the St. Patrick's Cemetery.
