John Cicala Obituary

John J. Cicala, 70, of East Norriton, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, July 20, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on September 24, 1954, in Norristown, John, better known to his friends and family as “Non” or “Nonny”, was the son of the late John Anthony Cicala and Barbara (Tirpak) Cicala. He was the devoted husband of 37 years to Joanne (Puscizna) Cicala.

John’s love of music began at the age of five, when he learned to play a large accordion and began performing in local parades. A gifted keyboard and piano player, he continued his musical studies and played in several bands throughout his youth and early adulthood. He later performed professionally across the country and throughout the local area, delighting audiences with his soulful playing and gentle voice.

When his children Gina and JJ were born, John transitioned to a career in sales, prioritizing his role as a hands-on, devoted father. He was deeply committed to his church and community, serving for many years with the Visitation BVM Catholic Youth Organization and the East Norriton Little League.

John was most at home surrounded by those he loved—sharing laughter, music, jokes and stories around the kitchen table or enjoying evenings by the pool with his wife and children. He was known for his warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for his family and friends. If John loved you, you always felt it.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Joanne; his daughter, Gina Frances (Benjamin) Adamo; his son, John Joseph Jr. (J.J.); his sister-in-law, Judith Clark; sister-in-law, Jane Kennedy; brother-in-law, Stephen Kennedy; and many cherished nieces, nephews and cousins. Though small, his family was tightly bonded and deeply loved.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation with the family on Saturday, July 26, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 196 Trooper Road, Norristown, PA 19403.

Burial will be private with the family later.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John’s name to Visitation BVM School, 196 Trooper Road, Norristown, PA 19403.

Arrangements are entrusted to Volpe Funeral Home, East Norriton, PA.
