Joseph Baccile Jr. Obituary

Joseph Richard Baccile, Jr. succumbed to heart failure after a lengthy, courageous battle with multiple ailments stemming from his disabilities on July 18, 2019. Son of Joseph Richard Baccile Sr. (deceased 1975) and Margaret Hess Baccile (deceased 1982) and brother to Maria Baccile Hughes, Michael Baccile, and Christina Baccile Lomaka. Joe is survived by his sons Joseph Richard Baccile III, Andrew Michael Baccile, and his daughter Jenna Marie Baccile. Additionally, Joe was a proud grandfather to Bethany, Anna, Julia, Meredith, and Charles Baccile. Joe was a graduate of St. Thomas More High School (1968) and St. Joseph’s College (1972) where he studied English. Joe was a long time hospital administrator and for most of his career was employed by Abington Memorial Hospital where he was the head of the Communications, Security, and Parking departments. Additionally Joe worked at Graduate Hospital and Delaware County Memorial Hospital. Joe was a movie lover through and through, and could unexplainably watch the same movie, good or bad, (mostly bad!) countless times; a trait he has successfully passed on to his children. Joe was a sports trivia buff. He was never short of a quip or piece of sports knowledge that he would challenge your brain or wager you on. Stubborn as a mule, and proud as a peacock, Joe was never one to shy away from a debate. Active in his younger years as an avid basketball participant, softball player, and bowler- Joe loved the comradery of being part of a team and the friendships that blossomed out of those experiences. Joe was suffering his last few months with us, and probably thought he was doing everyone a favor by finally letting go. We can almost still hear him saying “don’t worry about me” as what little strength was drained from his failing body. In the end, Joe can now rest tranquilly knowing his family is strong as ever, his kids are successful and happy, and his grandkids are healthy and thriving. Joe will be missed terribly by all that knew him, and now he can finally be at peace, something that had escaped him for a very long time.

A private family ceremony will be held at St. Peter and Paul Cemetery on August 24th, 2019 at 11:00am.
A reception celebrating Joe’s life will be held immediately after at 106 N. Concord Avenue, Havertown, PA 19083
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that anyone wishing to add a memorial contribution to please send a donation in Joe’s name to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
