Joseph Bruno, of Trooper, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, February 25, 2026. He was 88 years old.
Born on June 8, 1937, in Roccaspinalveti, Italy, Joseph was the beloved son of the late Giovanni and Antonia (Fanaro) Bruno. He immigrated to the United states in 1955 and made his home in Trooper, PA. He returned to Italy in 1962 where he met and married his beloved wife Antonietta (Petrollini) Bruno. They were married for 63 years with a life centered on hard work, faith, and devotion to family and friends.
In addition to his beloved wife Antonietta, Joseph is survived by his daughters: Joanne (David) Haruch, and Maria Bruno; and his grandsons, Joseph and David Haruch. He was predeceased by his brother, Secondo Bruno.
Joseph was a longtime parishioner of Visitation BVM Church. His strong work ethic defined much of his life. He was a self-employed landscaper for many years and was also formerly employed at Alan Wood Steel Company. In addition, Joseph was skilled in masonry work, a craft in which he took great pride.
He found joy in tending to his large vegetable garden and took great pleasure in sharing its harvest with family and friends. In particular, he was known for his tomato plants and fig trees. He shared his experiences, stories, and knowledge with all of his family and friends. There are many new gardeners who are grateful for all that he shared. Above all else, Joseph cherished time spent with his loved ones, especially being Nonno to his grandsons, who were the center of his world. His door was always open and a fresh pot of espresso with Sambuca was ready to go.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Tuesday, March 3, from 8:30 AM to 9:45 AM at Visitation BVM Church,196 N Trooper Road, Norristown, PA followed by a 10:00 AM Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to National Centre for Padre Pio, 111 Barto Road, Barto, PA 19504 or Visitation BVM Church.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Volpe Funeral Home and Crematory
