Joseph Barone Obituary

Joseph Paul Barone, affectionately known as "Butch," passed away on January 21, 2025, at the age of 78. He was born on November 29, 1946, in Norristown, PA, to the late Joseph and Candida (Seghetti) Barone.

He is survived by his daughter, Margaret Garcia (Justin); his grandchildren, Madison and Christian; his brother, Glenn Barone (Diane); his sisters, Beverly Nelson (Jim), Deborah Fiorentino (Guy), and Lisa Betts (John); as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him dearly.

Joe was a man of character—warm, kind-hearted, and generous. He had an undeniable love for his family, his Italian heritage, food, and his Catholic faith. A true storyteller, Joe captivated everyone with his humor, charm, and incredible impersonations, often leaving people in stitches at family gatherings and parties.

A graduate of Bishop Kenrick High School, Joe’s love for old classic movies sparked his passion for acting. His incredible talent for impersonations made him a natural entertainer, and he pursued his acting career. His resemblance to the actor Burt Reynolds even earned him some playful teasing in his younger years. Joe joined the Screen Actors Guild and had the opportunity to perform at The Totem Pole Playhouse in Chambersburg, PA, which was run by the future All in the Family star, Jean Stapleton. Though he could have traveled with Jean Stapleton’s theater troupe, Joe chose to stay close to home. He did, however, have the opportunity to work as an extra in films alongside some of Hollywood's greats, including Frank Sinatra and Al Pacino.

Though he loved the stage, Joe ultimately chose a different path, preferring the steady life of driving an 18-wheeler truck. He used this opportunity to meet people and share his colorful inventions, organic recipes, and Catholic faith. Even after stepping away from acting, Joe’s draw to the industry remained strong. When Rocky Balboa was being filmed in Philadelphia, he was called for a small role. He took his nephew, Angelo Fiorentino, along for the audition, and though they didn’t land the parts, they shared a day full of laughs and memories that they would cherish forever.

Joe’s larger-than-life presence, contagious laughter, and love of life will be deeply missed. His passion for family, food, and faith shaped the way he lived, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

Rest in peace, Joe. You will forever be in our hearts.
