Joseph R. Hannum, Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully, surrounded by love on September 18, 2025. He was 86 years old. Born on August 3, 1939, in West Conshohocken. Joe was the cherished son of Malcolm and Esther (Hovell) Hannum.
Joe graduated from St. Matthew’s High School, where he played football and basketball.
He earned a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering at Villanova University and a Master of Engineering at Penn State University.
He married his devoted wife, RoseAnne M. DiSanto from Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania. They have been married for 63 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Caroline (Philip) Johnson, Lisa Hannum, Robert Hannum, Andrea (Thomas) Keenan. Grandchildren: Eric (Lauren), Alex (Erin), Natalie (Mario), Isaac, Megan, Benjamin, Matthew and his great grandchildren: Julian, Clare, Adam, Adrian, Connor, Molly. He was preceded by his parents and his four sisters: Mary, Doris, Catherine, Joan.
Joe had a distinguished career for 37 years at the Budd Company, Polychem Division. His achievements included developing multiple inventions with patents, and many worldwide travels and business relationships. After many leadership roles, he eventually became the International Sales Manager of Product Development and Engineering.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Joe lived a full and vibrant life. He was a private pilot, served in the Civil Air Patrol US Air Force Auxiliary. He also enjoyed driving his motorcycle, playing golf, painting and playing the guitar. His faith, mentorship, courage, sense of adventure and humor were key virtues that made his life meaningful.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass on Monday, September 29, 2025, at 11:00am at Saint Helena Church, 1489 DeKalb Pike, Blue Bell, PA 19422. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Conshohocken. Private viewing.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joseph’s memory to Saint Helena’s Catholic Church.
