Joseph Lehman Obituary

Joseph A Lehman passed away on Thursday 15 April 2021. He was 82 years old.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, to Joseph and Mary (Collins) Lehman on 13 October 1938, Joe was the youngest of three. He is survived by his two sisters, Mary Bowes and Sandy Radue. Always the salesman, he started his own company as a manufacturers' rep after a December layoff where he was told he was “the only one of us” who can survive out there, creating Audubon Products.

Joe recently celebrated 40 years of sobriety, a milestone one day at a time. His participation in AA was a cornerstone of his life. His saying “one drink away from being a drunk” is a staple saying in the rooms of recovery in the Tri-State area.

He was an avid toy train collector. “Caboose Joe” cherished his sets, proudly displaying the “perfect” next to the ones with so-called “defects” in the design or manufacturing. It was said he unofficially had the largest caboose collection in the world!

You would often see Joe in North Wildwood, where he met his wife of 55 years, Marion. Marion and Joe married at St. Anne’s in Wildwood. Later in life the family purchased a “shore” home where he spent summers with the family. In later years you would often find him sitting on the porch reading or riding his bike, book in his back pocket, on his way to the Hereford Lighthouse to sit and read while listening to the gulls.

Joe also spent many years in the Optimists Club, going to the Oblates in St Francis de Sales in Childs, MD, Civil War Round Tables, and Gourmet Dinner Club.

Family left to tell his story are his wife Marion (Annal), son Michael, along with his wife Katie and children Myia, Lily, and Magnus, and his daughter Sheena, along with her husband James and daughter Taryn.

To those who loved him, stay strong and know he is in your corner. Ever the optimist, he will be cheering you on as your biggest fan.

There will be a viewing for friends and relatives from 8:30-10:00 AM, followed by a  Funeral Mass on Monday 19 April 2021 at 10AM at Visitation BVM Church in Trooper, PA.

Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests you consider Joe's wishes of memorial contributions to AAIntergroup.org to continue to carry the message of recovery.

Funeral arrangements are in the care of the compassionate family at Volpe Funeral Home in East Norriton, PA. Volpefh.com.
