Maria DiMeo Obituary

Maria (Scotti) DiMeo passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family on Wednesday, July 8, 2020. She was 72.

Mrs. DiMeo of West Norriton was a member of Holy Savior Church in Norristown. Maria was born in Bacoli, Italy on July 14, 1947, and was the daughter of the late Libero Scotti and Lucia Lubrano-Lavadera.

She is survived by her husband, Antimo DiMeo, three children and their spouses, Pino (Brooke Brewer), Lucia (and Mario Patone), Giusy (and Teo Borredon) and six grandchildren, Antimo and MariaDiMeo; Marina (and Kyle Salamido), Antimo and GiuseppeDiMore; and Caterina Borredon along with her former daughter-in-law, Lucia Scotti.

Maria held many titles, Moglie (wife), Mamma, Nonna(grandmom) and Zia (aunt).  Her life was filled with family and friends.  Maria always had a beautiful smile and her laugh could be heard throughout the house.  Her passions included cooking and baking, especially when the grandkids would stop by on a Sunday afternoon.  Many gnocchi, struffoli and pastieraNapoletana came from her tireless hands.  Fresh homemade limoncello could always be found in the freezer along with frosted glasses.  She loved the holidays and all the wonderful Italian traditions carried over from the old country.  Christmas was her favorite time of the year, spending it with kids and grandkids making unwritten recipes that filled the kitchen table.   While visiting family and friends back at her hometown in Naples, Italy, she would love to walk the procession in Monte di Procida during Ferragosto (the feast of Madonna Assunta).Maria was devoted to Madonna di Pompei and received many blessings and spiritual fulfillment.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing held on Maria’s birthday, Tuesday, July 14 from 9 to 10 AM at the church followed by a funeral mass on at 10 AM at Holy Saviour Church 407 E. Main St., Norristown. Her burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions in the form of Mass cards. Funeral arrangements are in the care of the Volpe funeral home. (VolpeFH.com)
