Marianne Elizabeth Sergio passed away on Friday Dec 20th peacefully in her home at Providence place senior living. She was born in Norristown and attended Holy Savior elementary school and Bishop Kenrick High School. She never ventured too far from Norristown spending most of her adult life in East Norriton and then Collegeville PA. Although Marianne suffered with dementia in her later years she always lit up when family and friends came to visit.
Marianne was a devout Catholic and a caring woman who started her career as a hospital nurse and then transitioned to private practice nursing. She went on to earn her master's degree from Eastern University and spent 20 years working in various capacities for merck sharp and dome. Marianne always wanted to help people and was quick with medical advice or to be a comfort for family and friends who needed her help. She was preceded in death by her husband Gus, whom she was never far from, and spent over fifty years with. She was one half of the duo "Gus and Mare." Together now in heaven, she will again be with her beloved son Matthew who passed away at the age of eight. Marianne was a wonderful mother to her sons Michael and his wife Michele (Vernacchio) Sergio and Thomas and his wife Emily (Slaff) Sergio. She had four grand children in Matthew and Michael and Tommy and Taylor. She loved them all and was proud of them always .
She was also preceded in death by her parents Sam and Mary Alba and her brother Michael (Nancy) Alba. She is at peace now, no longer trapped in a body that betrayed her in recent years, and surely doling out advice to anyone in heaven who needs it! She will be missed by family and friends and her many cousins.
