Marie Rodney

Marie Rose Sergena “Aya” Rodney, age 83, passed away on Thursday, September 20, 2019 at home in East Norriton, PA in the presence of beloved family. Aya, as she was affectionately known to her family and friends, was born on October 9, 1934 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti where she was born and raised, receiving her high school education. After marrying the love of her life, Carl Rodney, in 1956, Aya became the loving mother to five children. She followed her children from Haiti to the United States in 1990, where Aya spent her days as a homemaker taking care of her grandchildren. She is remembered most dearly for her love of family, music and dancing, and storytelling. She could also be found in the stands cheering on one of her grandsons at their many sporting events she attended over the years. Aya leaves behind her five children: Carlo Rodney, Edwidge Dagana (Ben), Murielle Telemaque (Jeffrey), Wilele Hicks, all of East Norriton, and Carolle Gallien (Marvin), of Houston, Texas; Her grandsons: Jeffrey Telemaque II, Justin Telemaque, and Tony Hicks. She is also survived by her step-mother, Marie Rosira Lormil, and her siblings, Francoise Antoine, Julienne Eveillard, Sebast Lormil, Paulette Lormil, Euphonise Michel, Catherine Lormil, Yvette Lormil, Sylvie Lormil, and Jerome Lormil. Aya was preceded in death by her loving husband, Carl Rodney, as well as her parents, Oxanville Lormil and Marie Perra of Port-au-Prince, Haiti, sister, Justina Lormil, and brothers, Armand Lormil and Mederick Lormil. Funeral services will be held at Visitation Blessed Virgin Mary Parish, 196 N. Trooper Rd, Eagleville, PA 19403 on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 with a viewing being held from 9:00 AM-10:00 AM, followed by the funeral mass at 10:00 AM.
