Martin William Dowdell

Martin William Dowdell passed away peacefully on May 4, 2023, surrounded by his family.

Martin was 78 years old, born September 18, 1944, to of the late John & Catherine (O’Neill) Dowdell in Philadelphia, PA. He graduated from West Catholic high school in 1962, and went on to marry the love of his life and best friend Nancy (nee Lynch). Together they shared 55 years of love, laughter, pain and joy.

His greatest joy was his family. He was a devoted husband and proud father of Monica(Daniel) Stevens, Martin (Julie), Christopher, and Bridget (Victor) Guarino. He was a proud Pop Pop of Brendan, Morgan, Conor, Kiera, Meghan, Riley, Emily, Brady, Kayleigh, Victor, and Catherine.

He had a big personality and loved sports. He loved coaching and watching his kids and grandkids play baseball, basketball, and soccer. He had the biggest heart and would always try to bring out the best in those he knew. He was a great storyteller and could make you laugh until your stomach hurt. He is predeceased in death by his parents and late brother Jack (John).

Relatives and friends are invited to a Life Celebration on Thursday May 18 from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the Volpe Funeral Home, 707 W Germantown Pike at Whitehall Road. Friends and family are also invited on Friday, May 19, from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. at the Visitation BVM Church, followed by his funeral mass at 11a.m. Funeral arrangements are in the care of Volpe Funeral Home.
