Mary E. (Betty) Gear, of Jeffersonville, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was 94 years old.
Born in Norristown on September 11, 1930, Mary was the daughter of the late Clarence and Ann (Mullin) Wilson. She worked for many years as a clerk in the Montgomery County Treasurer’s Office. Mary cherished Sundays spent with her family, adored her cat, and found great joy in traveling to Ocean City, New Jersey and Alabama to visit her Grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her five devoted children: Deborah Kappenstein (Ralph) Richard, Kathleen Snyder (Barry) James (Joanne), and Mary E. Brown (Todd). She was a beloved grandmother to 17 grandchildren and a proud great-grandmother to 29 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas, who passed away in 2002, her son Thomas Jr., and her brother James D. Wilson.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mary’s viewing on Monday, June 2, 2025, from 10:00 to 10:45 AM at the Volpe Funeral Home, 707 W. Germantown Pike, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Hillcrest Center.
Mary will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and the deep love she held for her family. She leaves behind a legacy of devotion and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
