Mary C. Nixon passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at the age of 70, after a well-lived two year battle with breast cancer.
Mary was born in Philadelphia on January 24, 1954 and was the daughter of the late Lawrence Raymond and Alma (Anseaume) Baker.
Mary graduated from Little Flower High School in 1971. She then went on to work for Dechert Law firm as a legal secretary for over 15 years. After having children, she worked as a medical transcriptionist at Lansdale Podiatry for 26 years where she made lifelong friends. Her last two years in the workforce were spent working with the supportive members of Montco Elder Law where she retired from in January of 2023.
Mary is survived by her son, Andrew Nixon and his wife, Emma and her daughter, Melissa Robinson and her husband, John. Also by her “adopted” son Andrew Kramer. She is survived by her sister, Barbara Rossi, and two brothers, Paul and Larry Baker. Predesceased by her brother, Steve Baker and sister, Louise Volpe. She was an aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. Her legacy will live on through her grandchildren, Bryson and Marianne, who brought her a tremendous amount of joy in the last months of her life.
As a child, Mary loved to play softball and that love carried on to cheering on the Philadelphia Phillies with friends and family. Some of Mary’s recent favorite pastimes were watching HGTV, spending time with her dogs throughout the years, and writing numerous tips/reminders/quotes on sticky notes throughout her home. Mary’s greatest pleasure in life was spending time with family and friends. She would take every opportunity to bring people together for a gathering.
Mary was a woman of strong faith and a longtime parishioner of St. Maria Goretti Church in Hatfield. Her faith allowed her to endure many hardships throughout her life. Mary will be most remembered for her captivating smile and laugh and her endless supply of concern and generosity for her family and friends. She would want to thank all of her “Supporters” for every text, call, kind thought, and prayer that fueled her fight over the past two years.
A private graveside service will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Conshohocken.
A Celebration of Life lunch will be held at Maggiano’s at 160 N Gulph Rd, King of Prussia, PA 19406 at 1:30 pm on Wednesday, July 3rd.Family and friends are invited to come to celebrate Mary’s life. Please come dressed to celebrate.
