Mary Lou Melle passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 20, 2025. She was 90.
A longtime resident of East Norriton, Mrs. Melle was an owner along with her husband Sam of Marion’s Deli in Norristown. Mary Lou was a member of Visitation BVM Church in Trooper, PA. She gave much of her time as a volunteer at the Norristown State Hospital and for the former Bishop Kenrick Auxiliary.
Mary Lou was born in Bridgeport, PA, on October 3, 1934, and was the daughter of the late James and Mae ( McNamara) Carr. She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony J. “Sam” Melle Sr.
Mary Lou cherished time spent with her family. She was an avid reader and especially loved being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Anthony Melle Jr.; daughters, Kathleen DiPietro and husband Art, and Cindy Melle Fritz, wife of the late Kevin Fritz. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Kevin, Francesca, TJ, Alyssa, Daniel Corbin; 10 great-grandchildren; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Winnie Knobel.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Tuesday, August 26, from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at Visitation BVM Church, Trooper Road, Trooper, PA, followed by a Funeral Mass. Interment will take place at St. Patrick Cemetery.
