Mildred “Midge” (Aloia) Gambone, 94, of Norristown, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 17, 2026.
Born on August 19, 1931, in the Mogeetown section of Black Horse, Plymouth Township, Midge was the daughter of the late Antonio and Millie Mae (Wren) Aloia.
Midge was the beloved wife of the late Raymond Gambone Sr, with whom she shared 57 loving years of marriage. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother whose family was the center of her life.
She was a retired Wedding Banquet Manager and remembered every couple she worked with by name and date for years to come. She was a longtime member of Holy Saviour Church and the Holy Saviour Senior Citizens. Midge remained strong in her faith and prayed the rosary every night and looked forward to weekly visits from Sister Kati for prayer. Midge enjoyed cooking, baking, coloring, reading and hosting her friends and family. She loved being in the kitchen and creating new dishes but was best known for her biscotti which were highly requested for every occasion.
For many years, she had a group of friends she'd regularly walked at the mall and played cards with multiple times a week. You could usually find her on her back porch with a cup of black coffee, watching the Philadelphia Phillies or cooking shows. Her door was always open for her many friends, family, neighbors, and cherished relatives, especially her nieces and nephews who called regularly and would often stop by to visit. Her hospitality, love and friendship will be missed by many.
She is survived by her loving children:
Michael Gambone and his wife Cindy (Cavello)
Anthony Gambone and his wife Angela (Dannaker)
Donna McMahon and her husband Ed
Maryann DeFranco and her husband Bill
She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren: Carolann Carfagno (Michael), Raymond Gambone III, Eric McMahon (Jackee), Danielle Dwyer (Brian), Matthew Gambone, Alexandria Gambone, John McMahon (Kelsey), Gina Pumo (Anthony), and Joe DeFranco.
Her great-grandchildren: Renee Gambone, Maia Carfagno, Michael Carfagno, Gianna Gambone, Ava Gambone, Mac Dwyer, Reid Dwyer, Maizy McMahon, and Dominic Pumo and great-great-grandchildren: Isabella, Milan, and Kylo.
In addition to her husband, Midge was predeceased in death by her son Raymond Gambone Jr, her grandsons Christopher and Anthony Gambone; her brothers John, Frankie, Anthony Jr., and Jimmy; and her sisters Agnes, Helen, Melba, Mary, and Grace.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass on Friday, January 23, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Holy Saviour Church, 407 East Main Street, Norristown.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 8:30 to 9:45 AM at the church.
Entombment will follow at St. Patrick’s Mausoleum.
