It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Nicholas Cione, a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and wonderful friend to many.
Nicholas, affectionately known as Big Nick and Nicky, passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at 2:15 PM at Einstein Hospital in Norristown, Pennsylvania, surrounded by his loving friends and family.
Nick was born on October 6th, 1947 in Norristown, Pa. He was a proud student of Plymouth Whitemarsh High School and went on to have a fulfilling career with the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, Plymouth Township Property Management Inspections, and First Student Bus Company. His dedication and work ethic were evident in all he did.
Nick was a life member of the Knights of Columbus (Plymouth Meeting chapter) and a former President of the Mount Carmel Lodge and cherished member of the Mount Carmel Bocce Club in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania. He was also a member of the Bridgeport Bocce League and Conshohocken Bocce Club (CBC). He loved the game and the camaraderie it brought. Nick was active in many local youth athletic associations and enjoyed teaching the fundamental skills to many of the area youth. In addition to bocce, Nick had a passion for cooking and loved to whip up delicious meals for his family and friends. He was a devoted fan of Philadelphia and local sports teams, always cheering on his favorites with enthusiasm. Family vacations to Wildwood, New Jersey, were among his happiest moments, creating lasting memories with his loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his parents Rita Salamone and Nicholas Cione of Black Horse/Plymouth Meeting, PA, and his sister Regina (Cione) McCabe. and his godchild Lori McCabe Shaw. Nick leaves behind his beloved wife, Frances Cione (Davis), their children: son, Rocco Cione (Beth) and daughter, Lauren Cione. He was a proud grandfather to Mia Cione, John Cione, Briella Moore, Charles (CJ) Moore, Phillip Moore, Margot Moore, and Charlotte Moore. He also leaves behind his sister Elaine Picard (Anthony) and brother Ron Cione (Madalyn), brother-in-law, George Davis (Rebecca), and many “favorite” nieces and nephews who will forever carry his love in their hearts.
Nick’s warmth, humor, and generous spirit touched the lives of everyone he met. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
A celebration of his life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made through GoFundMe at: https://gofund.me/e3e473c4 or checks can be delivered to the Mt. Carmel Bocce Club in Plymouth Meeting, Pa.
Rest in peace, Nicholas Cione. Your love will continue to inspire us all.
