Rita Granese Obituary

Rita (DeStefano) Granese passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2024.She was 92.

Mrs. Granese of East Norriton was a member of Saint Titus Church, East Norriton. Rita was a member of St Titus Senior Citizens, enjoyed playing bingo, trips to the casino, Broadway shows, walking, and was an avid Philadelphia Flyers fan. Her family will remember her as a beloved matriarch who loved spending time in her home with her family and friends, always with a spread of food that envied any of the best restaurants! They will also remember the many summer trips to Ocean City, New Jersey, her “happy place,” where they would spend time together laughing, playing UNO, and eating her famous fried dough!

Rita was born in Bridgeport PA on June 4, 1932, and was the daughter of the Late Gaetano and Rose (Branco) DeStefano.
She was the wife of the late Charles Granese. She is survived by her five loving daughters Sherry Shoop, Maria and husband Bill Mullen, Rita and husband Robert Durkin, Lisa and husband Rick Zambella, and Amy and husband Mark Porter, as well as one son, Charles Granese Jr.

Additionally, she is survived by three brothers, Albert, Anthony, and Carmen DeStefano, as well as 13 Grandchildren, Kelly (Mullen) Krutz, William Mullen Jr, Alison Mullen, Lauren (Bath) Fraley, Bob Bath, Kevin Patrick Durkin, Matthew Durkin, Emma (Durkin) Frusco, Paul Granese, Christina Granese, Nicholas Zambella, Jason Zambella, and Abigail Porter. She also was blessed with 12 Great-Grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brothers Michael, Larry, Joseph, Daniel, Sal, and Angelo, as well as sisters Anna Amato and Marie Bono.

The Granese family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 PM and on Monday from 8:30 to 9:30 AM at the Volpe funeral home, 707 W. Germantown Pike at Whitehall Rd., East Norriton.

A funeral mass will be held at 10 AM in St. Titus Church, 3006 Keenwood Rd., East Norriton.
Entombment will be at St Patrick’s Cemetery in East Norriton, 2400 Dekalb St.

Family request in lieu of flowers, that memorial contributions can be made to the Saint Titus Church or in the form of mass cards.
