Rocco T. Rossi Jr.,
passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 22, 2020 at Brandywine Living Senior Suites in Norristown. He was 94. Mr. Rossi resided in King of Prussia along with his loving and devoted wife of 66 years, Mary (Catagnus) Rossi. Rocco owned and operated Rossi Auto Salvage , Inc. from 1963 until his retirement in 1998 at the age of 73. His children now operate the auto recycling business.
Rocco was an All Star quarterback for the 1942 Upper Merion Spartans on the unscored upon, undefeated football team of which he was awarded a scholarship to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Rocco and the team were inducted into the Upper Merion‘s Sports Hall of Fame in 2016. Rocco was a Charter member of the LAM Valley Forge Lodge 1776, Sons and Daughters of Italy.
He was also an active Board member of the Pennsylvania Auto Recycling Trade Society until his retirement.
Rocco was an avid outdoorsman, especially enjoyed hunting and fishing and always had many stories to tell. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren who he loved dearly.
Born in Upper Merion, PA on May 21, 1925, he was the son of the late Rocco and Carmella (DeCreddo) Rossi and was the last surviving sibling of 12 children.
He is survived by his wife Mary, his four children Rocco III, Donna, Charles (Rita) and John (Colleen).
Seven grandchildren
Sean, Maria, Rocco IV (Amanda),Tiffany, John Anthony, Nicholas and Christian.
Funeral services and interment will be private at the request of the family due to the global pandemic. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are in the care of Volpe Funeral Home.
