Stephen Magura Obituary

Stephen Magura, 78, passed away in the early morning hours of June 27, 2026. The only child of the late Mr. and Mrs. Stefan P. Magura, Stephen was born in Hamburg, Germany on October 3, 1947. Stephen and his parents came to the United States in the early 1950s and they settled in Plainfield, New Jersey.

Stephen graduated from Plainfield High School. He then attended school in upstate New York at Clarkson University earning a bachelor’s degree in physics. Stephen continued his education and earned a master’s degree in social work and a doctorate in sociology.

A devoted husband Stephen met his wife of 55 years Lucille and married her at Mount Carmel Church in Niagara Falls, New York on September 5, 1970. They raised a family in South Plainfield, New Jersey after they adopted two infants from Colombia: Stephanie in 1980 and Evan in 1984. With his love of photography, Stephen enjoyed capturing countless memories of his family and friends throughout the years.

With a strong work ethic and a passion for research Stephen had a long career as a research sociologist focusing on narcotics.

After he, his wife and son resided in Kalamazoo, Michigan for 15 years they relocated to East Norriton, Pennsylvania to be closer to family. A loving grandfather to his grandchildren Sophia and Jacob, Stephen enjoyed spending time with family in his later years.

A lifetime reader he enjoyed reading classic science fiction novels, watching World War II documentaries on television and listening to classic jazz and 1950s rock and roll albums.

Stephen is survived by his wife Lucille, daughter Stephanie and her husband, son in law Adam and their son Evan. He also has many relatives in Niagara Falls, NY and in Hamburg, Germany whom he loved dearly.

Stephen believed in education, speaking one’s mind and enjoying moments. His presence will be missed but his beliefs live on in in those who knew him and loved him.

Memorial contributions can be made to Jefferson Einstein Montgomery Hospital 559 W. Germantown Pike East Norriton, PA 19403. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
