Sullivan "Andy" Gelet passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at the age of 52.
Andy, a loving husband to Maria for 28 years, has been the proud owner and operator of Gelet Bread Delivery, where they worked side by side since 2006.
He had a passion for sports and pub games, being an active member of the Bucks County and Conshohocken Horseshoe leagues. Andy also founded the Gelet Poker League, where he enjoyed spending time with friends. When he wasn't cheering on his favorite Philadelphia teams, you could find him dominating horseshoes or engaging in online games with his close buddies.
For many years, Andy participated in Norristown softball alongside his father, affectionately known as “Heels.” One of his greatest joys was coaching his daughter Mya's soccer teams, attending every game she played, and being her biggest supporter, on and off the field. Not a day went by when he didn’t express how proud he was of her!
Andy had an extraordinary gift for making friends, forming strong bonds through his various activities, and he was always ready to embrace a new competition. Underneath his competitive exterior, he possessed a heart of gold. Andy welcomed all of Mya's friends into his home, turning it into a fun hangout for all the kids and becoming a father figure in so many ways. He had a deep love for animals, taking care of the local deer population and ensuring that any stray pet he encountered found a loving home, with a special fondness for pit bulls.
Andy's life was vibrant and colorful, and he will be deeply missed by the numerous friends and family members whose lives he touched.
Andy was born in Norristown on December 14, 1971 and is the son of Sullivan and Iva (Williams) Gelet.
He is also survived by his wife Maria (Capizzi) Gelet.
Daughter, Mya Gelet.
Brother Pat (Cindy) Gelet. Sisters Mary (Steven) Lightcap and Alicia Gelet.
Mother-in-law, Carol, (Chachi) Capizzi-Velez, and father-in-law Peter Capizzi.
