Thomas Ronayne Obituary

Thomas Henry Ronayne made his transition to The Great Gig in The Sky in the early morning hours of December 29th 2023,  at home, under the watchful and ever-loving care of his four daughters.

Born on June 3,1944, he was the beloved son of Henry "Chick" Ronayne and Mary (nee Lennon) Ronayne, and brother to Sheila (David) Getzoff.

He was a student at St Katharine of Siena in Wayne, Pa and went on to graduate at Radnor Senior High School.

After an honorable medical discharge from the US Navy, and in spite of a lifelong battle against Crohn's disease, "Tenacious Tom" spent his life pursuing all things automotive, having spent many years working for Henkels and McCoy, Road Machinery, Main Line Volkswagen, Henry Paul Cadillac, and various privately-owned establishments along the Main Line of Old. His resume ran the gamut from transporting racehorses cross-country, volunteer fire fighting for Radnor Fire Company, pizza delivery for Pie in The Sky, a paratransit bus driver, a casino shuttle driver, and a chauffeur, just to name a few. His hobbies, habits and interests included (but we're not limited to!) camping and fishing, motorcycles, the Grateful Dead, going to concerts, tie-dye, photography, and especially Pink Floyd. He would most likely be remembered by his peers as being an avid Volkswagen enthusiast! Tom is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, a nephew, Randy, his firstborn granddaughter Heather Lynn Dillman, and his lifelong best friend, Van Michael Sharpe.  In the wake of his vast and colorful memory, Tommy leaves behind the "Ronayne-4",  his daughters Michele, Lisa,  H. Shannon, and Alexis; his grandchildren Jessica, Sara, Emma, Ben, Vebekah, Jacob, Blake, Elizabeth, Lucas, and Noah, and his great-grandchildren Paige, Pali, Julian and Jovie, as well as his cherished cat, Journey.

Cremation services through Volpe Funeral Home will be private, but a Celebration of Tom's life can be remembered any time a Pink Floyd song is heard!
