Walter J. Smith, of East Norriton, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 27, 2026, at the age of 99.
Born on June 2, 1927, in Port Kennedy, Upper Merion, Pennsylvania, Walter was the son of the late Wadgo and Mary (Wallace) Smith.
Walter was a retired chemist with Allen Wood Steel Company in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, where he dedicated many years of service. He was the beloved husband of the late Frances A. (Yashura) Smith.
He is survived by his loving children: Donna Marie Smith; Gregory Smith and his wife, Brenda (Pellechia) Smith; Dennis Smith; Michael Smith; and Michele (Smith) Frangiosa. He was also the proud grandfather of six grandchildren: David (Steven) Smith; Meghan (Matthew) DiBussolo; Louis Frangiosa; Nicholas (Kristen) Frangiosa; Michael (Ashley) Smith; and Brandon Smith. And six cherished great-grandchildren. He is survived by his sister Barbara O’ Connor. He was predeceased by his sister Helen Brennan, and brother Edward Smith
Family was the center of Walter's life. Nothing brought him greater joy than having his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren gathered together under one roof. He treasured every moment spent with them and never missed an opportunity to remind them how much they were loved.
Walter also enjoyed playing cards, visiting the casino, tending to his garden, and cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events. He found happiness in life's simple pleasures and in the company of those he loved most.
Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Walter's life on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at his Viewing from 9:15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., and Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Titus Parish, 3006 Keenwood Rd. East Norriton, Pennsylvania. Burial will follow in George Washington Memorial Park.
