William "Bill" Charles Bono, 81, of Plymouth Meeting passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, September 14th 2023.
Bill was born to the late Charles and Rose (nee Lombardo) Bono on March 27, 1942. A graduate from Bishop Kenrick, Bill eventually took over his father's business, Bono's Barber Shop, where he worked up until he became ill. Bill absolutely loved working in his community, and made many steadfast friends along the way. He was a natural storyteller with many of his tales centering around his strong Norristown roots.
Aside from his work, he also enjoyed cheering on his Philly sports teams, trips to the casino, eating out with good company (particularly at Andy's Diner and Applebees), and most of all, spending time with his beloved family. Comforting memories were made gathered around Bill's kitchen table playing cards after watching Jeopardy. He loved hosting holidays at his home, happily insisting that all were welcome to gather there and celebrate with the family.
Bill was preceded in death by his late wife, Theresa (nee DiCarlo), son Frank Bono, and sister Carol Lanno.
He will be sorely missed by his surviving family, son William Bono, daughter Kelly (Salvatore) Sabatino, brother Charles Bono, sister Anita Bono, brothers in law Joseph DiCarlo and Gerard Lanno, grandchildren Adriana, Sal, Kayla, and Danielle, and 2 great grandchildren. Bill also leaves behind many loving friends and extended family.
Bill was a devout parishioner of Holy Savior Church.
His viewing will be held Monday, September 18th from 6 to 8 PM and Tuesday, September 19 from 8:15 to 9:15 AM at the Volpe Funeral Home 707 W. Germantown Pike at Whitehall Rd., East Norriton.
Bill's funeral mass will be held at Holy Savior Church on Tuesday, September 19th at 10:00 am. Internment to follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Saviour Church.
